Car
Values
At
Corbett Auto, we believe that customers should be well informed when making
an important purchase decision. We have provided several links below to
excellent sites that will help you with your car buying experience. You
may also contact us with any questions you
might have. We love to talk cars and will gladly provide phone quotes.
- N.A.D.A.
(National Automobile Dealers Association www.nadaguides.com): In
Colorado, this is the main source for identifying the values of vehicles.
A dealer will use this book to determine the trade-in value of your
vehicle and the retail value of their vehicle for sale. Banks also use
the N.A.D.A. books to determine the amount they will loan out for a
given vehicle. This site will provide you with low/average/high retail
prices but not trade-in values.
- Kelley
Blue Book (www.kbb.com): Kelley Blue Book provides a variety of
car values including; trade-in, private party retail and dealer retail.
The value ranges can be fairly large and market conditions can have
a significant impact on car values as well. Dealers typically purchase
vehicles at or near the trade-in (wholesale) value and sell vehicles
at or near the retail. Ultimately, a dealer needs to stay in business
and this spread is what pays for salaries, rent, insurance, etc.
- Edmunds
(www.edmunds.com): Another excellent site for researching car values.
Edmunds provides trade-in values as well as private party and dealer
retail values. Many of their vehicles also have reviews and photos.
Edmunds has an excellent pricing report with detailed price adjustments
for mileage, condition, color, region and options.
- Cars.com
and AutoTrader.com:
Another way of determining what a vehicle may be worth is to see what
they are selling for in your area. Cars.com and AutoTrader.com both
have an extensive selection of vehicles. Keep in mind, the prices listed
on these sites are asking prices and the vehicles are not necessarily
being sold at those prices.
- Capital
One Auto Finance (www.capitaloneautofinance.com):
If you are looking for an auto loan, Capital One is great. They offer
extremely competitive rates for those with excellent credit (better
than most banks) and the process is quick and easy. Basically, you apply
with them and they send you a blank check you would take to a dealership.
It really is that simple. They even offer loans if you are purchasing
your vehicle from a private party.
- Car
Fax (www.carfax.com): Car Fax helps protect your investment by researching
car titles to determine if the vehicle has any hidden problems such
as being salvaged or false odometer readings. All our vehicles sold
come with a free Car Fax report.
